NDLEA arrests 56 suspects in Kogi

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, detained 56 suspects in Kogi State between July and September 2023 for drug-related offenses.

This was revealed on Monday by the NDLEA’s Kogi State Commandant, Abdulkadir Fakai Abdullahi, as he turned over four alleged criminals to the Nigerian Police Force in Lokoja.

According to information obtained by newsmen, two of the suspected criminals were apprehended on the 17th of September 2022 while transporting 18 pump-action guns, 1300 cartridges, and ammunition in a J-5 bus, while the other two were apprehended while transporting 1000 live cartridges/ammunition in a luxurious bus.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Abdullahi emphasized that the war on drugs was everyone’s concern and urged the audience to support the agency at all times.

The NDLEA boss, while enumerating the achievement of the agency in the last three months, said they have succeeded in convicting seven accused persons and charging 11 cases at the Federal High Court Lokoja.

Receiving the items for further investigations and prosecution, the deputy commissioner of police in charge of criminal investigation department, Kogi State command, Aniefiok Wilson Akpa, commended the synergy that has been exiting between the police and the NDLEA.

He called on the public and other stakeholders, including the media, to always give timely information to enable security agencies take actions.
