Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Sokoto State, have arrested five suspects for sodomising a seven-year-old boy.

The Commandant of the NSCDC Sokoto State command, Mohammed Saleh-Dada, during a parade of the suspects, said the uncle of the victim was the first to rape him.

He said the uncle thereafter invited four other persons, who consistently raped the boy until his ‘vital area’ was damaged.

Saleh-Dada said the suspects were arrested when relatives of the victim raised the alarm and reported to the police.

In a related development, the commandant disclosed that the agency would be prosecuting a suspect for allegedly raping a five-year-old family member.

He said the suspect was arrested after it was discovered that he had “consistently raped the victim, as well as sodomised her before the alarm was raised and he was arrested.”

The commandant said the suspect had been remanded in prison after a court session.

Saleh-Dada appealed to lawyers and other human rights activists to always consider victims and their relations before making a case for suspects of rape and sodomy.
