Gunmen have kidnapped a retired police officer, Ayuba Mangdihis, in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Mangdihis was abducted on Tuesday around 11pm at his residence in Panyam community.

According to PUNCH, a resident, Bulus Shedrack, who confirmed the incident said, “He was sleeping when the kidnappers came knocking and asked him to open the door. When he realised they were kidnappers, he pleaded with them, but they forced his door open and took him away after releasing some gunshots. Since then, we have not seen the retired police officer and the kidnappers have yet to contact the family for ransom.”

The state police spokesman, Alabo Alfred, could not be reached for comments as his phones were switched off.
