The National Identification Management Commission, NIMC, has asked traditional leaders for their support in getting more people enrolled in the nation.

Alhaji Aminu Jakada, the Jigawa State Coordinator of the Commission, made the call on Tuesday while paying a visit to Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, the Emir of Dutse, in his palace.

He claimed that the commission had only registered and issued identification numbers to 2.5 million people in the state.

According to him” Kazaure emirate has registered 50 percent, Hadejia 37 per cent, Dutse 30 percl cent, Gumel 25 per cent, and Ringim 23 percent”

Jakada said the commission in collaboration with some companies has provided 1,500 computers for the successful conduct of the registration exercise.

He, however, solicited the traditional leaders’ support in creating more awareness of the importance of obtaining the identification number.

The Emir of Dutse Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi however pledged to join hands with the commission to ensure more people in the emirate are registered.
