The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has stated that its enrollment, verification, and other identification systems are operating at peak performance.

It also stated that the National Identification Number (NIN) is now required for access to all government services.

It also reassured Nigerians that top-tier identification services would be provided in line with the government’s effort to provide a reliable, sustainable, and verifiable foundational identification system for all Nigerians and legal residents.

In the same vein, NIMC stated that enrollment and issuance of the NIN are free. The commission warned that it would not tolerate any form of extortion, warning the public to report any such case to the appropriate quarters.

NIMC said that information on all approved fees for other services is listed on its website.

The commission said it is aware of the antics of some unscrupulous individuals using its forged document to seek collaboration with state and local governments.

According to NIMC, these individuals do this to collect money to enrol and issue the NIN, especially for students in primary and secondary schools across the country.

The commission said it has not sent “anyone nor any organization to do so,” adding that the public should report such individuals or organizations doing so.
