75-year-old man identified as Olu Idika, was beaten by some aggrieved residents for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl and her friends in Ikhin Community in Owan East local government area of Edo State.

According to SaharaReporters, Idika was arrested last Wednesday at his home in Ikhin after being caught in the act and taken to Otuo police station. But he was released on bail on Friday.

A few moments after his release, he was beaten up by some aggrieved residents of the community until the police arrived to pick him up because the child’s mother had gone to report at the station.

On Monday, he was caught again in Benin and transferred to the Ugbor police station.

Later, the girl told police that she was not the only victim of the sexual assaults.

She stated that she had also brought her friends, notably her schoolmates, to the man who also had their carnal knowledge for N100.

It was further reported that medical reports of the girl showed serious infections in her private parts.

A non-profit organisation, Women of Inestimable Value, has decided to intervene in the case and ensure the culprit is eventually brought to book.
