Lagos: Man Arrested For Having Sex With 12-Year-Old Neighbour’s Daughter

One Daniel Ifeagwu has been apprehended for having carnal knowledge of a 12-year-old girl.

The police said the 44-year-old man had engaged the girl who happens to be his neighbour’s daughter in sex in the last 20 month.

According to the police, the man allegedly threatened to deal ruthlessly with the victim if she disclosed her ordeal to anyone, including her parents.

But few weeks ago, the young girl eventually summoned up courage and narrated her travails to her mother.

The police alleged that the suspect had between April 2021 and December 2nd, 2022, lured the girl several times to his apartment, where be engaged her in sex.

The matter was eventually reported at Ipaja Police Station, leading to the arrest and detention of the suspect.

He had since been charged before Ogba Magistrates’ Court on a three-count charge of rape, sexual abuse and illicit canal knowledge of the girl.

The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, requested the court to refer the matter to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.

The matter was adjourned till January 17, 2023, for the report of the DPP to be available.
