Officials of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) raided filling stations within Kaduna metropolis over petroleum price hike.
It was gathered that most of the filling stations visited by the officials on Thursday were those selling above the official price of 185 per litter and those selling in Jerrycans.
According to Daily Trust, EFCC officials arrived MRS filling station along Akilu within Kaduna metropolis around 1:30 pm accompanied by armed mobile policemen.
The EFCC officials went around to check to ensure that the filing station was not selling against the official price while car owners were in the queue waiting to buy.
Attendants stopped selling fuel while the EFCC operatives were there but continued after they left the station.
“They are not hoarding fuel here because they still sell a liter at 185 including to people that brought Jerrycans but the EFCC officials drove away people with Jerrycans from the premises,” a motorist said
Similarly at Gura Nigeria Limited filling station along Nnamdi Azikiwe Bypass, the anti-corruption officials stormed the station asking the staff to reverse to official rate of 185 per liter against the 280 they were selling.
Again, the officials visited 5energy filling station, Mando, where they stopped the sale of fuel at 292 per liter.
At Usmania Petroleum Station, also along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Bypass, fuel was being sold at 290 but the EFCC officials directed them to reverse to the normal price.
The officials of the anti-graft agency also visited Kamlik Nigeria Limited selling at 299 per liter.
A staff member of the anti-graft commission, who pleaded anonymity, said they visited those filling stations to force them to sell at official rates.
“It’s sad to see how these filling stations are not even concerned about the suffering of Nigerians. If not how can you sale at above 185 per liter? We will forced them to abide by the rules,” the official said.
