Passenger dies as bus rams into petrol tanker in Lagos

A yet-to-be-identified passenger has been killed as a commercial bus rammed into a petrol tanker at Secretariat Bus Stop, inward Otedola Bridge, Lagos State.

It was gathered that the accident occurred on Tuesday around 5pm.

The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, who disclosed this in a statement, said the commercial bus had a brake failure and rammed into the tanker.

Adebayo said, “Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority today (Tuesday) rescued 12 accident victims who were trapped inside a commercial bus that rammed into a petrol tanker by Secretariat before Oando Filling Station inward Otedola Bridge, Lagos.

“The accident, which occurred around 5pm, had the driver of a commercial bus and another 12 passengers trapped.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that the commercial bus had a brake failure and rammed into a tanker trailer while in motion by Otedola Bridge.

“One of the accident victims died instantly, while others were handed over to medical personnel who came to the accident scene by LASTMA officials.”
