Details of a meeting between Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and UK government officials have emerged.

Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe, stated that the former Vice President will travel to London, United Kingdom, at the invitation of the British government.

The PDP flagbearer said in a tweet on Tuesday that he met with Andrew Mitchell, Minister for Development and Africa in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

Before the upcoming presidential election, Atiku stated that the meeting would allow him to share his vision for Nigeria with British government officials.

He wrote:

I just concluded successful meetings with The Right Hon. Andrew Mitchell MP—Minister for Development and Africa in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), amongst other key senior UK government officials.

It was an auspicious occasion to share my vision for Nigeria encapsulated in the Unity SEED with them. It is a vision United by Security, Economy, Education and Devolution (of Powers).

I solicited their partnership and I am encouraged by the UK government’s strong interest in helping Nigeria RECOVER every facet of its life.

Aminu Tambuwal, Director-General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation (PCO) and Governor of Sokoto State, was present at the meeting, as was Minority Leader Ndidi Elumelu, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Governor of Kano State, Attahiru Bafarawa, Senator Dino Melaye, and Timi Frank.
