Amawbia Community in Awka South Council Area is seeking government partnership on production of organic fertilizers in line with Public, Community Private Partnership model of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration.

A delegation of the Community led by Chief Victor Oye, made the plea when they paid a courtesy visit to the Governor at his Lodge in Amawbia.

WITHIN NIGERIA  gathered that the fertilizer project was enacted under former President Olusegun Obasanjo where the federal government was supposed to provide the needed equipment and expertise, the state government to build the structure, while the community will provide the land, but unfortunately, the project was stalled.

Speaking about the project, the President General of Amawbia Town Union, Chief Godwin Aronu explained that the project was truncated and never commissioned, pointing out that the project is soil friendly, saying that it will make for timely provision of fertilizer to the south east.

He assured that they have people on ground who are ready to sponsor the project if the state government removes the encumbrances.

He applauded the Governor’s strategy, fundamentally prioritizing security, efforts in waste disposal and management, among other numerous issues.

Earlier, Chief Oye who is also the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, explained that the voting pattern of the community proves their love for the Governor, pledging their support to his government.

Responding, Governor Soludo who appreciated their support, said that part of his administration’s principle objective is on partnerships and assured of its readiness to partner the community.

The Governor further explained that the reason his government harps on PCPP is because 98% of the revenue are in the hands of the private sector, noting that he understands that the social contract between government and the people broke down, assuring that they are working hard to build it up, to ensure that resources they get are transparently managed.

The Governor who recalled the Neni and Oraukwu development model, stated that while they are maximizing the resources, they are also calling on communities to strengthen the social contract partnerships, stressing that there must be minimum standards on development, be it roads or markets.
