Isaac Azi Wakili, a first-class monarch in Plateau State, was kidnapped by some armed persons on Friday morning.
The supreme leader of the Izere people in the state’s Jos East Local Government Area (LGA) is Wakili.
When gunmen broke into the first-class monarch’s palace in the Shere community, it was discovered that he had been abducted.
According to sources close to the Angware Palace, the intruders broke into the building at around 3 am on Friday, opening fire intermittently while engaging the palace’s security guards.
Two security officers sustained varied degrees of injury even as the gunmen overwhelmed them and took away the traditional ruler.
The Public Relations officer of Plateau State Police Command, Alfred Alabo confirmed the incident and said security operatives are currently working to ensure the freedom of the monarch.
