Najatu Muhammad, a former top campaigner for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, paid a visit to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, hours after quitting from the ruling party.

There are reports that she paid a visit to Atiku at his Abuja residence, but the media could not confirm this as of press time.

Dino Melaye, a spokesman for Atiku’s campaign, was among those who greeted Muhammad at the former vice president’s residence.

It is unclear whether the visit constitutes an endorsement of Atiku because she has not made the meeting’s subject public.

The former Civil Society Director of the APC Presidential Campaign Council informed Daily Trust that she will speak with the presidential candidates of the major opposition parties before deciding who to support.

The former Kano Municipal Local Government Area director stated she chose to stop supporting Tinubu because he “hardly thinks straight.”

“Yes, I am no longer supporting him (Tinubu); that is why I left the party. A lot has changed. He can hardly think straight. I am very sure of that. You can see his clips.

“I have transcended religious, tribal or regional sentiments, so I can’t afford to look at things with that narrow premise. I think it is not only irresponsible, it is criminal because we have succeeded in dividing this country for selfish reasons. We can’t continue like that. We need to move our country forward. That is my reason. I have nothing personal against anyone,” she had said.

The former APC campaign director wrote in a letter dated January 19, 2023 and written to the APC national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, that she departed due to recent changes in the country’s political and democratic environment.
