The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that the Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign rally in Rivers State, which was previously scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2023, has been rescheduled.

In a statement issued today, the PDP Presidential Campaign Council in the state apologized to party members and supporters for any inconvenience caused by the rescheduling.

It was revealed that the electioneering event had been rescheduled to take place on 14 February 2023 rather than the previous date. The Campaign Council’s spokesperson, Dr Leloonu Nwibubasa, did not say whether or not the venue had been changed in a press statement.

Nwibubasa, on the other hand, stated that the rally would take place at 9 a.m. on the new date and that details about the venue would be communicated to the public as soon as possible.

The statement reads:

The PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Rivers State Chapter, hereby regret to announce the said postponement and plead that the general public, members of PDP, and the Supporters of Atiku/Okowa Presidency bear with us on the inconveniences this adjustment in date may cause you.

Remember to keep a date with Atiku/Okowa for a better Nigeria.

Gunmen Attack Atiku’s Campaign DG In Rivers

The PDP did not explain why the Rivers State rally was postponed in its latest press statement, but the development could be linked to the attempted assassination of Abiye Sekibo, the Director-General of the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign council in Rivers.

WITHIN NIGERIA previously reported that unknown gunmen attempted to assassinate the PDP chieftain in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.

Sekibo was reportedly attacked while on transit in the state on Thursday night. The assailants were allegedly sponsored by the state Governor, Nyesom Wike, according to a former Minister of Transportation in the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

“It is Wike and his people,” the former minister told The Whistler in a phone interview when asked who the attackers were.
