Reactions have followed the decision of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to mitigate the effects of Naira scarcity by providing free Points of Sale (POS) to residents of the state.

WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the governor made the provision in response to nationwide tensions caused by the Central Bank of Nigeria’s currency exchange debacle.

The governor directed a 50% fare reduction in all State-owned transportation services, effective Thursday, in a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to Sanwo-Olu, the controversy surrounding the CBN currency exchange deadline has had a dislocation effect on Lagosians, limiting their access to cash for daily transactions and making their means of sustenance difficult.
