On Monday, the Federal Government of Nigeria chastised the US and UK for issuing travel warnings for late 2022.
The government claimed that Abuja was still safe more than three months after their embassies had advised citizens against visiting or remaining there.
At the 25th iteration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Scorecard Series on Monday in Abuja, Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed gave a speech.
Gen. Bashir Magashi (retired), the minister of defense, gave a report card on his department’s performance over the previous seven years.
Mohammed recalled how the advisories caused panic and tension in the country, prompting some foreigners to flee the nation’s capital.
The minister said residents of Abuja had been going about their activities, commending security agencies for their efforts.
Mohammed hailed the military, the police, the intelligence agencies and others for their commitment and sacrifice.
“We also call on Nigerians to continue to support the security agencies as they carry out their onerous task,” he said, warning Western countries to stop frivolous advisories.
