Mr Bayo Averehi, a Kogi Labour Party (LP) chieftain, said on Sunday that Nigeria needed a strong and committed visionary leader to pull it out of its current economic quagmire.

According to Averehi, only the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Peter Obi, fits the bill.

“This is because both PDP and APC have not been able to bring the nation out of the mess the nation has found herself.”

Averehi made the remarks at a news conference in Lokoja, where he was a Kogi PDP Guber aspirant in 2019.

“Nigeria as a nation should be uppermost in our decision making as regards this coming presidential and National Assembly elections to vote for individuals that can salvage her.

“Enough is enough. It is time we proved to the two major political parties that we have the power to hire and fire. So that when next they are voted into power, they will not take us for granted,” Averehi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said the antecedent of Peter Obi speaks for him and urged Nigerians to come out en mass to vote for him.

Averehi, however, appealed to the Nigerian youths not to allow themselves to be used by any politician to foment trouble in order to have free and peaceful elections.
