Two people were killed on Tuesday in the Igando neighborhood of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, when a Honda Civic collided with a stopped PSP truck.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reports that numerous other individuals suffered injuries as a result of the fatal collision.

According to reports, the driver of the Honda Civic was traveling at top speed when he lost control of the car, veered to the other side of the road, and rammed head-on into the truck.

In a statement, Taofiq Adebayo, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA, stated that the accident happened at Unity Bus Stop, inside Isheri Roundabout, right after General Hospital in the Isheri area of Igando, Lagos.

He quoted the LASTMA’s Zonal Head, Isheri, Afolalu Gbenga as confirming the accident at Isheri.

Gbenga said a pedestrian and a passenger died instantly in the accident, adding that the deceased were handed over to the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) officials present at the scene of the accident by LASTMA officials.

The accidented vehicles were removed from the road by LASTMA officials in order not to cause serious impediment to free-flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, another two severe accident victims and many others were rushed to hospital for treatment by LASTMA officials at Ikoyi area of Lagos.
