Suspected herdsmen have killed a driver identified as Ome Osesa and injured others at Sobe Community in the Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.

According to PUNCH, a source in the community, who did not want his name in print for fear of reprisal, said the herdsmen invaded the deceased’s house in the evening and opened fire on him and others.

The source said, “The herdsmen invaded the community, killing Osesa in his house and injuring many others.

“The herdsmen later left Omesa’s house and moved closer to St. Thomas Moore Primary School where they also kidnapped some persons.

“The rate of killing by herdsmen in Sobe community in Owan West Local Government has become too many.”

Another resident regretted that the people did not get timely help during and after the attacks.

He observed that the new police divisional headquarters created in the community has not stopped the attacks on the community.

“We call on Governor Godwin Obaseki as the chief security officer of the state, to liaise with the Federal Government so that a mini barracks can be created in the community before the community turns into a graveyard,” the resident added.

The attack was the seventh attack on the community with five people losing their lives in the last three attacks.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that a boy, who was kidnapped the last time the killer herders struck, is yet to be rescued.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, when contacted, said the command is not aware of the attack.
