A 70-year-old man, Usman Ibrahim, has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping two minors aged four and seven in Ajiya Street, Jimeta in Yola North local government area of Adamawa State.
Ibrahim, father of three, was said to have lured the two victims into his room located close to the victims, where he had unlawful carnal knowledge of them.
The father of the victims reported the incident to the Divisional Police Headquarters Jimeta, having observed the unusual pains from the kids while urinating.
Preliminary investigation so far revealed that the suspect, who lives alone, after he separated from his wife 10 years ago.
The State Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest said the state commissioner of police CP Afolabi Babatola expressed worry over the unfortunate incident and has directed the officer in charge of the family support unit of the State CID to take over the investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.
The police boss equally advised members of the public particularly parents, to be very watchful of their kids against criminal-minded elements who are roaming about seeking whom to take advantage of and report person(s) of suspicious character to the police.
