A cross section of women and youth have urged the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to zone the party ticket to the Western Senatorial district ahead of the Kogi State governorship primary on April 16, 2023.
The group explicitly requested that Senator Dino Melaye receive the party ticket because they felt that he has the ability to remove the All Progressives Congress, or APC, from power in the White House.
The women and youth group made their statement yesterday at a demonstration in favor of Senator Dino Melaye, one of the candidates running for governor from the Kogi eastern senatorial district, at the PDP state secretariat in Lokoja.
Spokesman of the group and legal adviser of PDP, Lokoja Local Government, Mahmoud Aliyu, said the group gathered in Lokoja to declare its support and endorse Senator Dino Melaye as the sole governorship candidate on the platform of PDP.
“Dino is the only capable and fearless among the PDP aspirants that can wrestle power from the hands of the APC led administration that has plunged the state into a precarious situation.”
