The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has presented N84.5 million cheques to 34 dependents of policemen who died in active service in Zamfara.

NAN reports Baba was on Thursday represented at the ceremony by the acting Commissioner of Police, Ali Dabigi.

The IGP said the fund provided by the Police Family Welfare Insurance Scheme would provide succour for families of the deceased.

Baba said the insurance scheme has been assisting families of officers and men of the Force, especially those who died in active service.
