A native doctor identified as Emea Ibe, has fled after inflicting terrible injuries on two children in Ania, Akanu, Ohafia LGA of Abia State

Ibe was accused by the community of inflicting machete wounds on Friday Ota Awa, 10, and his step-sister, Kosisochukwu, over the allegation that they were responsible for the death of his sheep.

According to a community source, the native doctor fled to an unknown destination after committing the wicked act.

The native doctor reportedly accused Awa of beating his sheep to death, an allegation refuted by the boy’s family.

Rather than allow the kid to explain himself, Ibe allegedly tied and dragged him to his shrine, where he dealt him machete blows in an effort to ‘squeeze’ the truth out of his mouth.

He added that when his sister, Kosisochukwu pleaded with the native doctor to spare her brother’s life, Ibe also grabbed her and beat her with the same machete, declaring that nothing would happen even if he killed them.

The victim’s father, reportedly a stroke patient and their mother, an asthma sufferer, were helpless and could not rescue their children from the native doctor.

The traditional ruler of Akanu, Ezieogo Mba Okereke, who condemned the development said he had directed other native doctors in the community to fish out their fugitive colleague for prosecution.

The monarch who condemned the action of the native doctor, promised that the matter would not be swept under the
carpets as he is prepared to protect the rights of abused children.

Similarly, youths of Ania Akanu have vowed to nab the fleeing native doctor and bring him to justice for bringing the name of the community into disrepute.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna, however, said the command was not yet aware of the incident as at the time of filling this report.
