On Tuesday, the Kaduna Police Command announced that it had detained 350 alleged criminals who were terrorising the state’s citizens.

In a statement about the suspects made at the Kaduna Police Command Headquarters, DSC Mohammed Jalige, the state’s police public relations officer, said the command had begun a serious manhunt for the criminals in response to public outcry about the nefarious activities of these criminal elements, also known as “sara suka,” operating within the city centre.

He claims that the courageous perseverance of the staff has produced a successful outcome because the suspects were found to be in possession of the following exhibits: illegal drugs, 57 bags of dried leaves thought to be Indian hemp, weighing 1710kg, stolen phones, sharp knives, scissors, and cudgels.

Master keys, different-brand automobiles, and motorcycles are among the additional items found.

He added that after investigation, they would also be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction. He stated that some suspects have been charged in court while others are undergoing covert investigation.

“It is worthy to mention that miscreants who have adopted a new modus operandi in disposing law-abiding citizens of their valuables by spraying a substance suspected to be acid on their victims, especially in Malali and Badarawa general areas, have equally been arrested and currently undergoing investigation,” he said.

According to him, the state command reiterated its commitment towards ensuring the security and safety of the good people of the state, just as he warned that criminals have no hiding place in the state.

He advised criminals to either repent or leave the state completely, just as he thanked residents of the state for their untiring support without which the success and achievement wouldn’t have been recorded.

He urged them not to relent but to always report all incidents of criminals to the nearest police station, and avoid taking laws into their hands.
