On Tuesday, the Russian military announced that more than 200 people were being evacuated from Sudan on four military transport aircraft.
The defence ministry said in a statement the evacuees included diplomats, military personnel and other Russian nationals as well as citizens of “countries of the former Soviet Union and other friendly countries who asked for help”.
Meanwhile, one of the buses conveying stranded Nigerians from Khartoum, Sudan, to Port Sudan caught fire in the early hours of Monday, WITHIN NIGERIA learnt.
26 buses conveying the stranded Nigerians left Al Razi around 12 am on Monday for Port Sudan where they will move into Saudi Arabia.
According to the Chairman, Nigerians Elders’ Forum in Sudan, Hashim Na’Allah, said 50 students were conveyed in the bus, but no one was injured or died during the incident.
Na’Allah narrated “One of the buses conveying some 50 Nigerian students from Sudan with a tag number (Katsina 1) heading to Port Sudan as part of the second batch of FGN evacuation got damaged due to excessive heat from one of the vehicle’s tyres.
