The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has lambasted his counterpart in the Labour Party, Peter Obi, over the social media attacks by his supporters on the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and other individuals.

Sowoye described as “slimy and deceptive,” comments by Obi, in which LP candidate condemned ‘Obidients’ attacks on Pastor Adeboye

He noted that Obi’s strategies had backfired, citing the former Anambra State Governor’s reportedly leaked telephone conversation with the founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that Obi distanced himself from the attacks on Adeboye in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Head of Obi-Datti Media Office, Diran Onifade.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday night, Obi had said, “The use of subterfuge by people masquerading as Obidients to abuse and insult eminent personalities like Most Reverend Pastor Enoch Adeboye or anyone else is most unacceptable. Obidients are by and large, law-abiding citizens.

“While differences of opinion are normal, calculated efforts to create ethnic or religious chasm all in the name of politics should not in any way be tolerated. As a person, I eschew name-calling, insults, and abuses, likewise, most of my supporters do.

“The suggestion that some in the fringes engage in such conduct casually overlooks the fact that the political opposition deploys such methods to gain undue advantage and create confusion and bad blood – PO”

Reacting to Obi’s tweet, Sowore stated that unknown to many, the former Anambra governor was the head of “his mob”, adding that the “cancellation” of anyone opposed to Obi’s candidacy was part of the LP flag bearer’s campaign strategy from inception.

Sowore said, “@Peterobi is a slimy person, unknown to many, @peterobi is the head of his mob. “Cancellation” of anyone opposed to his candidacy was part of his campaign strategy from inception.

“These strategies have now backfired spectacularly, hence his deceptive remorse. Don’t be deceived! All you need to understand him @PeterObi is listen to his conversation with @bishopoyedepo #revolutionnow.”
