A medical team has arrived at the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters to operate on Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that this was made known by the family of the pro-Biafra activist.
Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, told Vanguard that the team came for the DSS medical unit’s recommended emergency ear surgery.
He stated that the team was awaiting permission from the DSS to examine the IPOB leader properly.
Kanu had urgent ear surgery recommended by the secret police medical unit about a week ago.
According to this online news outlet, Kanu has been held in solitary confinement at the DSS headquarters in Abuja since his “abduction in Kenya” and subsequent extraordinary rendition to Nigeria in June 2021.
Despite several court rulings and the UN Opinion that Kanu be unconditionally released and compensated, the Federal Government has yet to do so.
There have been cries and appeals for Kanu’s release from prominent Nigerians and groups.
Many people believe that his continued illegal detention is contributing to the unsettling insecurity in the South East geopolitical zone.
