No fewer than five persons lost their lives in a fatal road accident which occurred at Ikaram Akoko in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Sunday.

It’s gathered that many sustained injuries in the lone accident.

The accident involved an 18-passengers bus with registration number DKA256XY, was traveling to the northern part of the country when the crash happened.

The Ondo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Ezekiel Son’Allah, confirmed the incident and said over speeding was responsible for the crash.

He said the accident occurred at about 12.30pm and involved 18 passengers.

According to him, while five passengers died, 11 sustained injuries and two were unhurt.

“The victims were taken to State Specialist Hospital, Ikare Akoko for medical attention and the corpses were taken to same hospital morgue while the crashed vehicle was taken over by men of Nigeria Police Force, Oke- Agbe Division,” the FRSC boss said,

Reacting to the development, the monarch of Ikaram Akoko, Oba Andrew Momodu, said the community had approached Federal Ministry of Works and the Federal Road Maintenance Agency to erect speed breakers around the junction where the accident occurred, adding that road crashes were common in the area
