Nine suspects have been apprehended over an alleged attempt to kill two individuals, the police in Edo state have said.
The police said the suspects fired live rounds at their victims leaving them severely injured.
The victims are Festus Osagie, 40, and Olusola Esimaje, 39.
The suspects alleged to be cult members, attacked the duo on June 15 at Ologbo, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area.
SP Chidi Nwabuzor, Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, confirmed the arrest to NAN in Benin.
Following the victims’ report of the incident at the Ologbo Police Division, operatives were immediately dispatched to the scene, where Osahon Omofuma, 38, and eight others were arrested, Nwabuzor stated.
According to him, the victims were taken to the hospital for treatment while police commenced an investigation into the incident immediately.
