  • NNPP’s NEC meeting in Abuja leads to decisions on reforms for future electoral success
  • Party’s acting national chairman urges leaders to contribute creative initiatives for victory in upcoming elections

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) National Executive Committee (NEC) met in Abuja on Saturday. It resolved to implement key reforms that would propel the party to victory at all levels in future elections.

During the NEC meeting, the party’s acting national chairman, Alhaji Abba Kawu Ali, stated that NNPP leaders should be open to the party’s ongoing restructuring, which aims to entrench further and reposition the party.

As politically conscious Nigerians who have determined to rescue the country from political decadence and long years of misgovernance, I implore every one of us to be creative by devising initiatives and ideas that can drive the party to victory in subsequent elections, he said.

APC defeats NNPP at tribunal

The electoral victory of Mukthar Umar Yarima of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) into the Federal House of Representatives has been annulled.

The National and State House of Assemblies Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kano nullified Yarima victory on Thursday.

His victory was nullified because of the forgery of his primary school certificate.

Consequently, the tribunal declared Hafizu Kawu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) election winner.

In delivering the judgement, the three-man panel of the tribunal upheld that the respondent, Yarima, didn’t attend Hausawa Primary School.

After evaluating statements by witnesses and documents tendered before it, the tribunal averred that Yarima forged his primary school certificate and therefore was not qualified to contest the Tarauni Federal House of Representatives Election.

The panel consequently declared all the total votes scored by the NNPP candidate as waste and declared the petitioner, APC’s Hafizu Kawu, who came second in the election, as the winner.
