  • Kano State APC directs members to fast and pray for divine intervention in governorship election petition tribunal, following NNPP’s similar prayer session
  • Party’s secretary emphasizes decentralized prayer sessions at ward and local government levels to ensure peaceful proceedings

The Kano State All Progressives Congress (APC) has directed its members to fast and pray in order to obtain God’s intervention in the governorship election petition tribunal.

According to the party’s secretary, Ibrahim Zakari Sarina, the majority of their supporters have already begun fasting while offering prayers at various wards and local government levels in response to the party’s directives.

He added that the prayer session was decentralised at ward and local government levels to have control and avoid any unwarranted circumstances.

The prayer sessions are being held at the Ward level, local government levels, and in our campaign offices across the state. We don’t want a situation where we will suffer as individuals. We want it to be peaceful and orderly.

I am also travelling to my village to join them today (Monday). We will break fast there and pray, he said.

The Kano State polity has been roiled since an election petition tribunal judge, Flora Azinge, raised the alarm that some lawyers were allegedly bribing or attempting to bribe members of the elections petitions tribunal on behalf of their clients.

This sparked accusations and counter-accusations in the state between the APC and the NNPP.
