  • Arinze had financially supported his ex-girlfriend, Esther, throughout her pregnancy and after the baby’s birth
  • A man named Seun claimed to be the baby’s father, leading to a dispute between Arinze and Seun

A 24-year-old man named Arinze Igbonakwu has been declared wanted for allegedly setting his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend, along with her newborn baby and three others, on fire.

This incident took place on the morning of Tuesday, September 5, in Okun Owa, Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Speaking with Instablog9ja, a source said, “Esther and Arinze were dating when she fell pregnant. Arinze took care of her and shouldered all the financial responsibility until she was born sometime last month. It was Arinze that paid all the hospital bills.

After a few days of the baby’s birth, a man named Seun emerged and claimed to be the father of the child. While they were trying to resolve the issue, Esther decided to leave Arinze and move in with Seun. Esther also confirmed that Seun is indeed the biological father of her child.

The police became involved in the situation, and Arinze demanded a compensation of N300,000. However, Seun offered to pay only N150,000, in monthly installments of N20,000.

The matter was eventually resolved at the police station, but it appears that Arinze was not satisfied with the outcome. He began making threats to harm the girl.

On Monday night, Esther went to sleep at her neighbor’s room with the baby because Seun wasn’t home and she was scared that Arinze might break in to harm her.

Arinze forcibly entered the neighbor’s apartment and doused Esther, the newborn baby, the neighbor, and her two children with approximately 10 liters of petrol before setting them on fire.

Emergency services rushed the victims to Babcock Hospital in Iisan, and they were later transferred to Gbobi Hospital in Lagos.

The newborn baby passed away immediately, while Esther succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday morning at the hospital. The neighbor and her two children are currently fighting for their lives and are in critical condition. Meanwhile, the suspect is currently evading arrest and remains on the run.
