  • He calls for caution among patrol operatives and warns drivers to follow traffic rules and avoid bad road behaviors

Dauda Biu, Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has lamented the constant crushing of his patrol operatives as a result of the recklessness of some drivers.

Biu stated this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Bisi Kazeem.

He was reacting to road traffic accidents in Lagos and Kaduna States, where Corps operatives were brutally killed while on active national service.

On the other hand, the Corps Marshal commiserated with the families of the deceased while sending a condolence message on behalf of the Corps’ management and entire staff over the operatives’ untimely deaths.

According to him;

Deputy Chief Road Marshal Assistant (DCRMA) A. Ajomole, was diligently carrying out lawful patrol duties at Iganmu Bridge, in Orile Lagos State on Sept. 16 at exactly 02:16pm on the day the sad event happened, while Road Marshal Assistant I (RMA I), Hamidu Idris, detailed on patrol activities in Dutse Outpost, Doka Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sept. 12, was crushed at exactly 09:15am.

Crash investigation reports revealed that on the said day of the Lagos crash, late Ajomole was attending to an offender who drove a Cabstar (Lagos Taxi), when suddenly a Mack truck, conveying a container, lost control and hit the Cabstar he was attending to.

The impact of the crash on the Cabstar forced the operative to hit his head on a stationary tanker parked by the roadside and died on the spot.

On the other incident, Hamisu was on his way to impound an arrested offenders’ vehicle, when the driver pushed him out of the vehicle, and he hit his head on a stone, a situation that led to his untimely death, he said.

As a result of the recent spate of unfortunate incidents involving the deceased and others, Biu has reiterated his call for patrol operatives to exercise caution in discharging their duties.

The FRSC chief also warned drivers of all vehicle types to follow all traffic rules and regulations and avoid bad road behaviours that cause accidents.
