  • Dr. Wunmi Bewaji stated that President Tinubu’s appointments are not lopsided and mentioned the balanced composition of service chiefs and ministers

Dr. Wunmi Bewaji, a former House of Representatives Minority Leader, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointments are not lopsided, contrary to popular belief.

Bewaji, executive secretary of the Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reforms, pointed out that some appointments were for personal aides, which would naturally go to those with whom the president had previously worked.

People who are saying Tinubu’s appointments are lopsided have forgotten that during Jonathan’s era, the entire South West had no substantive minister.

All the ministers in the South West during the Jonathan era were ministers of state. People have forgotten that and I don’t even see any lopsidedness here. If you look at service chiefs, it is fairly balanced, if you look at ministers, it is balanced.

There are some appointments which have to do with personal staff, like personal assistants and stuff like that. These are people who might have been Z you overtime even before you entered into office.

24-Hour Curfew Declared In Kano

Following the electoral petitions tribunal’s decision to dismiss the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, a 24-hour curfew has been imposed in Kano State.

This was said in a statement that Muhammad Usaini Gumel, the commissioner of police, personally signed.

He claimed security personnel had been sent out across the city to impose the curfew.

Given the Constitutional mandate of the Nigeria Police Force alongside the relevant Internal Security and Law Enforcement Agencies to preserve law and order in the State, the Kano State Police Command has mapped out strategies in that direction and called on the good people of the State to give the necessary confidence and supports.
