Assailants hack Abia man to death

One Chidozie Chigbu has been grisly murdered by some yet-to-be identified men

The incident happened in Nsirimo community, Umuahia South LGA of Abia State.

The locals in the community discovered the victim’s lifeless on Wednesday night with gashes all over his head, suggesting that his attackers may have used a machete to hack him to death.

His corpse was seen lying face down with a pool of blood all over the scene of the suspected murder incident.

The identity, motive of the attackers, where the they came from or the exact hour they struck are yet to be ascertained.

It was also not established if the late Chidozie Chigbu was having any conflict with any person or not before his gruesome murder.

But a voice from a video circulating on social media from the scene of the attack claimed that the lifeless body of Mr Chigbu was discovered by a villager who went to fetch water, adding that it was the alarm raised by the indigene that attracted other villagers to the scene.

Abia State Police Command was yet to confirm the incident as the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, has not issued a statement concerning the matter.
