Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will defeat other political parties in Imo State’s governorship election on November 11.

The lawmaker stated that he fully supports the state governor and APC candidate, Hope Uzodinma, and will work to ensure his re-election.

The deputy speaker spoke at a thanksgiving service held at the Catholic Church Assumpta Cathedral to commemorate Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day.

In a statement issued yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Levinus Nwabughiogu, Kalu praised the efforts of the South East governors to root out insecurity in the zone. He promised to work with them to secure the region.

Kalu, who joined Uzodinma at the service, praised the governor, who is also the Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum and the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, for providing “visible” leadership in the state.

The deputy speaker urged the people to be united and patient. He was in Owerri to meet with the governor to strengthen measures to address the region’s growing security challenges.

According to him, insecurity is a major concern for regional leaders, particularly those of the APC extraction.
