  • Kano NNPP Chairman criticizes APC for appointing Abdullahi Ganduje as National Chairman, citing concerns over his controversial tenure and leadership track record
  • He questions the choice, suggests more qualified candidates within the party were overlooked, and predicts negative consequences for the APC

Hashimu Dungurawa, the Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has strongly criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) for appointing Abdullahi Ganduje as its National Chairman. In a recent statement to the press, Dungurawa expressed his dismay, suggesting that this move could prove detrimental to APC’s standing and reputation.

Dungurawa questioned how a person like Ganduje, whose tenure as Governor of Kano had been mired in controversy and allegations, could be entrusted with a leadership role on a national scale. He pointed to ongoing concerns such as the “Dollar video clip saga” and alleged financial mismanagement involving substantial loans taken out in the name of capital projects.

“The biggest mistake made by President Tinubu and the APC was allowing Ganduje to become their party National Chairman because the former Kano Governor has no track record of political success,” Dungurawa stated.

He went on to criticize the APC’s choice, asserting that more qualified and reputable individuals within the party could have taken up the role of National Chairman. Dungurawa claimed that these capable individuals had been overlooked in favour of Ganduje, who, in his opinion, lacked a clear record of political achievements without reliance on other influential figures.

Describing Ganduje’s appointment as a “misapplication of choice,” Dungurawa predicted it would negatively impact the APC’s chances in upcoming bye-elections scheduled for November. He emphasized that the party would soon realize the consequences of their decision and questioned their ability to secure victory under Ganduje’s leadership.

Dungurawa highlighted Ganduje’s historical dependence on Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his political godfather and suggested that, without Kwankwaso’s support, Ganduje struggled to achieve significant political success.

In conclusion, Dungurawa advised President Bola Tinubu to reconsider allowing Ganduje to continue as APC Chairman, asserting that it would not bode well for the party’s prospects. He left no room for doubt, stating, “With him, nothing good will ever befall the party.”
