  • A magistrate’s court in Jos revokes bail granted to Dr. Noah Kekere, facing allegations of organ harvesting, only 24 hours after bail was initially granted
  • The decision followed opposition from the victims, their families, and the local community, prompting a reevaluation of the case

A magistrate’s court within the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) has revoked the bail previously granted to Dr. Noah Kekere, who is facing allegations of being involved in organ harvesting. This decision was made only 24 hours after the suspect was initially granted bail.

The Organ Harvesting Accusations

Dr. Noah Kekere, who was disowned by the Nigerian Medical Association in the state, faces severe accusations. He has been accused of illicitly removing the kidneys of two of his former patients during medical procedures at his Murna Clinic and Maternity, situated in the Yanshanu community within Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The suspect was initially granted bail on Tuesday during a court session at a JMDB magistrate’s court, presided over by Magistrate Joseph Chollom.

However, the decision to grant bail was strongly opposed by the victims, their families, and the local community surrounding Murna Clinic and Maternity. In response to the bail decision, the victims petitioned the state government.

Surprisingly, the police command and the state Ministry of Justice claimed to have been unaware of the bail proceedings. The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Joel Tahvan, accused the magistrate of acting without proper prosecution in granting bail.

Bail Revoked and Suspect Remanded

In a turn of events on Thursday, Chief Magistrate Chollom revoked the bail of Dr. Noah Kekere after the suspect was re-arrested and brought back to court by the police.

During Thursday’s proceedings, the magistrate officially announced the revocation of the bail previously granted to Kekere. He further ordered the suspect’s immediate remand.

This recent decision by the court reflects a reevaluation of the seriousness of the accusations against Dr. Noah Kekere and the need for comprehensive legal proceedings.
