  • The police have arrested three suspects

The police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have reported the seizure of 10 vehicles suspected to be involved in “one chance” crimes within the territory. FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, conveyed this information during a media briefing in Abuja on Friday.

The newly formed ‘Anti-One Chance Squad’ impounded these vehicles to combat the prevalent criminal activities.

Many of the confiscated vehicles had tinted windows, and searches revealed weapons such as axes, cutlasses, and knives, indicating their intended use for criminal purposes.

The police have arrested three suspects linked to these seized vehicles and are currently investigating the matter. Additionally, operatives from Zuba Division detained three individuals on October 8 following reports of suspicious activities near Zuba fruit market, related to alleged armed robbery and kidnapping.

“Police operatives from Zuba Division swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested a suspect, who, upon sighting the police operatives, took to his heels. He was given a hot chase and apprehended by police operatives.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of a five-man gang and later led the police operatives to the arrest of two of his gang members,” he said.

According to the CP, the police recovered two AK-47 rifles, two magazines and 35 rounds of live ammunition from the suspects’ house.
