  • The IGP revealed that marine and gunboats have been deployed in the three states due to their riverine terrain.
  • Police boss Olumuyiwa Adejobi announced that three states have been fortified with various security equipment, including helicopters for aerial patrol.

Starting on Friday, there would be no movement of vehicles or of ships, canoes or other waterborne modes of transportation in Imo, Kogi or Bayelsa, according to Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.

The IGP claims that the decision is consistent with the steps taken to guarantee free, fair, and credible elections in the three states.

Additionally, he prohibited certain state security groups, such as Ebubeagu and other quasi-groups, from conducting activities during the drill.

Given the states’ riverine topography, the IGP, who revealed the information during a press conference at Force Headquarters, clarified that both marine and gunboats had been stationed in the three States.
