  • Imo State PDP governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Anyawu, remains confident in winning despite reported ballot box snatching incidents.
  • Anyawu emphasizes focus on a peaceful and credible election, expressing determination to emerge victorious in the face of challenges.

Senator Samuel Anyawu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the upcoming 2023 Imo State governorship election, has boldly asserted his confidence in winning the race, undeterred by reports of ballot box snatching.

Speaking to journalists after casting his vote at polling unit 012, Ama Imo Community Primary School in Ikeduru Local Government Area, Senator Anyawu expressed optimism about a peaceful election leading to his victory.

While acknowledging that the election was progressing well, he addressed concerns about reported ballot box snatching in the Orlu zone. Senator Anyawu stated, “Honestly, everything is getting calm. In seven wards, ballot boxes have been carted away. That does not stop me from winning.”

He emphasized that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared that votes in areas with recorded violence would not be counted. Undeterred, Senator Anyawu remained focused on the credibility of the election, stating, “If the election is free and credible, I will win the elections.”
