- Melaye garnered 210 votes to defeat the All Congress candidate (APC), Ahmed Ododo
The governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye, has been declared the winner of his polling unit.
Melaye garnered 210 votes to defeat the All Congress candidate (APC), Ahmed Ododo, who pulled 22 votes while Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came a distant third with 7 votes.
The National Rescue Movement, People’s Redemption Party, African Democratic Party, 001 and Social Democratic Party got 001, 002, 001 and 001 respectively.
The polling unit recorded a low voter turnout as 252 voters were accredited out of 819 registered voters.
It was learnt that the PDP standard bearer alongside his followers boycotted the exercise.
Melaye, however, said he voted.
“I have voted,” he said, while fielding questions from the journalists at his home. But when he was told that journalists had been waiting for him at his polling unit, he added, “maybe you went to the wrong polling unit.”
“Where is your polling unit?” he was asked. “I am not under attack, I have voted,” he replied.
