  • The PDP governorship candidate’s appeal was dismissed by the Abuja-based Appeal Court on Monday.
  • PDP advocates for legal action against electoral process violations, as seen by APC in 2023 Governorship Election, to ensure democracy and preserve electorate votes’ sanctity.

The PDP in Benue State has pledged to take advantage of all available legal means in order to reclaim the governorship, which it feels is rightfully its.

All Progressives Congress candidate for governor, Gov. Hyacinth Alia, was declared the victor of the March 18 election by the tribunal, which was maintained by the petition Court sitting in Abuja on Monday. The PDP candidate’s petition was denied by Engineer Titus Uba.

The PDP’s Engr Uba won the last election, according to a statement released by the party’s spokesman, Mr. Bemgba Iortyom, on Tuesday. He said that his legal team will direct them to appeal the Appeal Court’s decision all the way to the Supreme Court.

He said, “It remains the contention of the party that, in line with extant electoral laws, regulations and guidelines, the governorship of the state at the last election was won by Engr. Uba was canvassed by his legal team at the Tribunal and at the just decided appeal.

“The party’s leadership will consult with the legal team on the best possible approach to the next step on the litigation process, and urges its teeming members and supporters to maintain the faith that justice will surely be done to the petition by Engr. Titus Uba.

“PDP believes democracy is best served and the sanctity of the votes of the electorate better preserved by the pursuit of the legal option where there occurs violation of the electoral process as was done by APC at the 2023 Governorship Election.”
