  • The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expressed openness to forming alliances, including with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
  • Acting National Chairman Abba Kawu Ali stated the party’s willingness to collaborate with political entities for the benefit of Nigerians and democracy

In response to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s appeal for opposition parties to unite, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) expressed openness to forming alliances, including with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Abba Kawu Ali, the party’s acting National Chairman, conveyed this stance in a recent press release, appreciating Atiku’s call as commendable. He highlighted the success of a similar initiative in 2015, which united opposition parties to overcome the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Our party unequivocally welcomes collaboration, alliance, or any arrangement with political entities such as PDP, Labour Party, and APC, provided it serves the best interests of Nigerians and safeguards our democracy,” Ali stated.

Currently assessing the national sentiment and political climate, Ali emphasized NNPP’s readiness to engage with any political party for discussions on arrangements prioritising the well-being of Nigerians, democracy, and the country’s accelerated and sustainable development.

Kano Governor Alleges Political Targeting Linked to Kwankwaso’s Vision

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has asserted that his legal challenges, including recent losses at the Elections Petition Tribunal and Court of Appeal, are orchestrated attacks against his political mentor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Speaking at a stakeholders meeting of the Kwankwasiyya Movement in Kano, Yusuf addressed the political setbacks for the first time.

During the meeting, attended by key figures including the state deputy governor, speaker of the state House of Assembly, federal lawmaker, leaders of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), and top government officials, Yusuf affirmed his commitment to continue working under Kwankwaso’s guidance. He urged party leaders not to lose hope and not to engage in bitter exchanges but to focus on motivating the people of Kano.
