Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, clarified that the police force is not in conflict with the military following recent tensions. Egbetokun made this statement during a visit to the Yola command of the Nigeria Police Force, extending condolences to the family of the late Inspector Jacob Daniel, who lost his life during an invasion of the police quarter guard by soldiers.

Egbetokun reassured his officers that the recent clash between the police and the army is being addressed by the highest security authorities in the country. He condemned the attack and pledged that justice would be served for the late officer’s family.

The police chief urged officers to stay focused on their regular duties and not be demoralized by the incident. He also encouraged them to align with the vision of the current administration, emphasizing a professionally competent, service-driven, rule-of-law-compliant, and citizen-friendly police force.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri received commendation from the IGP for his intervention in the recent clash. In response, Governor Fintiri praised Egbetokun’s efforts to enhance the welfare of police officers and bring positive changes to the Nigerian Police Force.
