  • Nasarawa APC accuses PDP of staging protests for sympathy after Governor Sule’s reinstatement, citing undemocratic actions and mobilization
  • APC chairman criticizes PDP, claims supporters engaged in public demonstrations, including indecent acts, and dismisses reliance on spiritual interventions

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has accused the People Democratic Party (PDP) of orchestrating a protest with the aim of causing unnecessary public disturbance to garner sympathy. The allegations follow the recent reversal by the Court of Appeal of the Elections Petition Tribunal’s decision that initially removed Governor Abdullahi Sule of the APC from office.

After the appellate court’s decision, PDP members, dissatisfied with the outcome, took to the streets to express their discontent. The chairman of APC in the state, Aliyu Bello, criticized the PDP, claiming that the party’s actions lacked democratic principles and were marked by political unrest. Bello specifically pointed to the mobilization of supporters, including women, who engaged in public demonstrations, even resorting to indecent acts.

Bello remarked, “The poor women who were recruited to engage in this shameful act have been paid and convinced that such equally primitive action has the spiritual powers to earn the party victory at the courts.”

He expressed confidence that the Supreme Court would uphold the facts presented during the Election Petitions Tribunal and the subsequent judgment of the Appeal Court. Bello concluded by asserting that the PDP’s reliance on spiritual interventions would not alter the course of legal proceedings.

Enugu State open for business, Governor Mbah tells investors

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has said that his state is open for business and that the financial reforms implemented by the Tinubu administration are rubbing off positively on the state.

After a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja on Tuesday night, Mbah made the remarks.

“We are doing a lot, trying to attract investors to Enugu State,” Mbah said.

“And the fact that we now have the ease of investors bringing in their money and also being able to repatriate it as a result of the unification of the foreign exchange rates would largely rub off positively on Enugu State.”
