Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has asserted that he will not succumb to intimidation or blackmail, emphasizing his dedication to fulfilling the mandate bestowed upon him to serve, protect, and advance the state.

Addressing the 115th and 116th combined Quarterly General Meeting of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara expressed his commitment to serving with humility, sincerity, and accountability despite the challenging times.

“While these are trying times, let us not forget that Rivers State is our collective inheritance, presently under my watch, to protect, defend, and advance as the Governor,” Governor Fubara stated.

He assured the people that he would not falter in this responsibility and would not surrender the mandate and progress to intimidation, blackmail, or deliberate sabotage.

Governor Fubara outlined his plans to strengthen education, healthcare, and other social services across the state, ensuring that no part, including rural areas, would be left behind. The 2024 state budget would prioritize and allocate sufficient funds to achieve universal access to affordable and quality education and healthcare services.

The governor emphasized initiatives for skills development, entrepreneurship training, and targeted investments in commercial agriculture to unlock the entrepreneurial spirit among unemployed youths.

Addressing traditional rulers, Governor Fubara urged them to uphold integrity, remain neutral, and speak truth to power to maintain their moral authority and legitimacy before their people. He expressed concern for the plight of rural youths and called for collective efforts to ensure peace and security, essential for sustainable development.

Governor Fubara also encouraged faith in the renewed hope agenda of the federal government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence in the President’s determination to navigate the nation towards economic progress.

The Chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, declared the council’s support for Governor Fubara’s administration. Ohna Awuse urged troublemakers to desist from sowing discord and allow the governor to focus on the responsibilities for which he was elected.
