Four commissioners have so far resigned from Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s cabinet.

The state Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma, and the Commissioner for Works, George-Kelly Alabo, are the latest among those who resigned in 24 hours.

Chinwenwo-Aguma cited “personal and other personal commitments,” while Alabo said his resignation is anchored on his “conscience” as seen in a press release.

This is coming after the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor, SAN, and the Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Woke, resigned from Fubara’s cabinet.

The crisis rocking the state took a new twist when 27 lawmakers loyal to a former governor of the state, Nyesome Wike, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.

Lawmakers loyal to the state governor therefore declared their seats vacant while calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct fresh elections to replace them.

The state government also on Wednesday demolished the House of Assembly complex, claiming it is no longer safe for legislative business.
