In a collaborative effort between the Kogi State Police Command, the military, and local vigilantes, 24 victims of kidnappers were successfully rescued within the Adogo axis in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of the state. The rescue operation took place following the kidnapping of the victims on Friday.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state, SP William Aya, the rescued individuals comprised 11 students and three teachers. The police confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing members of the kidnapping gang responsible for the abduction.

The Commissioner of Police for Kogi State, CP Bethrand C. Onuoha, deployed additional Tactical Squads, including the Quick Response Unit, to join the team led by SP Sule Musa, the Divisional Police Officer. As the joint team combed the bush, the criminals, realizing the approach, opened fire. A gun duel ensued, forcing the hoodlums to abandon their victims and flee due to the superior firepower of the security team.

CP Onuoha commended the efforts of the team and urged law-abiding citizens in the state to continue collaborating with the police and other security agencies by providing timely and credible information about criminal activities in the state.
