A couple in Abuja has parted ways after their marriage hit the rock over lack of mutual affection.

The seven-year-old marriage between one Ramatu Ahmed, and her husband, Yahaya Salihu was dissolved by an Upper Area Court in Kubwa on Wednesday.

The dissolution of the marriage was in tandem with Islamic doctrines.

The dissolution followed the granting of the husband’s prayer to that effect by the judge, Mohammad Wakili.

Wakili also ordered Ahmed to observe “Iddah”, which is an observation period of three months after the judgment before contracting another marriage.

Earlier, Ramatu, a mother of two, informed the court that she married Salihu in 2017 according to Islamic Personal Law.

She said that she had been having problems for almost six years in the marriage and grew tired of the situation.

“In spite of family interventions, the situation has not changed, I can never love Salihu. I want the court to grant my wish,” she said.

She added that when her father passed away, Salihu went to pay his condolences in her family home but refused to greet her mother.

In his response, Salihu said that he does not love the plaintiff anymore and consented to the divorce, adding that her late father was also like a father to him
